Processed Tower Defense is a open source game designed and implemented by Will Larson and Peter Burns. It began as an entertaining technology demo for John Resig's Processing.js library, but interest from players combined and in particular Peter's involvement served as the catalyst for continued development.

Version 1.0

On June 9th, 2008 PTD hit its first major milestone, arriving at its 1.0 release. The goal--hopefully acchieved--of the 1.0 release was to create a compelling browser based game using only JavaScript. The phrase that best embodies a success of this goal is "Wow, I can't believe that's JavaScript."

Version 2.0

The motto for version 2.0 is "Wow, I can't believe that isn't Flash." We are hoping to pull out as many stops as possible, and include a more attractive overall appearance, support for sound, as well as creating a more defined gameplay experience with tower upgrade branches, predictable creep types, and different levels of difficulty.

Development

PTD began development in May 2008, and is continuing to be refined and improved on a daily basis. The primary repository lives on GitHub, and is always open for additional contributors. Its wiki and issue tracker are hosted on LightHouse.
